Kongresse
In recent years, professional congresses have become an integral part of ophthalmic training and continuing education. National professional societies have established themselves to set medical standards and to support each other. The COECSA (College of Ophthalmology of Eastern Central and Southern Africa) as a superordinate organization, whose mission is the improvement of ophthalmic training and medical care, the harmonization of training content, the exchange of ophthalmic know-how and the distribution of resources, plays a central role in the organization of congresses.
Since the 1st COECSA Congress in 2013, the DSB has actively participated in the annual meetings on a regular basis. Dr. Bopp thereby held vitreoretinal symposia, and gave expert lectures. Furthermore, existing contacts with cooperation partners and fellows were intensified, new cooperation opportunities were explored, and knowledge of the special requirements in African developing and emerging countries was expanded. Unfortunately, the Corona pandemic is currently limiting these opportunities.
